6.1. ShaoLin Administration System

SIC uses ShaoLin Administration System (SAS) for the administration GUI. By using SAS, it allows system administrators to administer SIC from any Java enabled platforms. SAS contains a daemon and a java console.

The SAS installation is performed automatically during SIC installation. If you are looking for details of the SAS, please read the ShaoLin Administration System User Guide.

6.1.1. SAS Client Main Window

When you start SAS client, you need to login to the SAS server in order to access the server and get the CAM. The login dialog box will popups and ask you to login.

- 1. "Menu Bar" -- you can use menu bar command to perform indicated operations

- 2. "ShortCut Bar" -- provide quick access to functions of components

- 3. "Component Area" -- connected hosts and components that your can access will be listed in this area

- 4. "Working Area" -- the main working aread of the component that you have selected

- 5. "Task log" -- Task performed in the current session

- "Hostname" -- the hostname you are going to connect. You can type in either IP Address or the hostname.

- "Password" -- is the password that you set for SAS asscess.

- "Remember Password" -- memorize the password on the client machine. USE THIS OPTION CAREFULLY FOR SECURITY REASONS

- "Port" -- Port number of the SAS server, by default it uses port number "5031".

- "Default Port" -- Check this box to override the Port number typed and use the default SAS port number

You may click "Connect" button to perform a connection to the SAS server once you've fill in the hostname and password, a "Progress" dialog box will popup to wait for a connection to SAS server becomes available. A successful connection will cause the client to download all available SAS plugins from the server

6.1.3. SAS Host Information

After a sucessful login to the system, the "Component Area" on the left hand side of the SAS client will display the connected hostname or IP address. You can click on the connected "host" and you see the "Working Area" change from SAS logo to the host information.

The host information screen will provide you the information about which hostname of the connected system, which port is you using, and which plugin(s) that you're loading with the description of the system(s), version of the system(s) and the version of the plugin(s).
